The 1st Primary School in Filiates Thesprotias, Greece, was founded in 1871 by the great Greek benefactor Zappas Konstantinos. It is situated about twenty kilometers far from Igoumenitsa, the well-known harbor near Corfu. The school is surrounded by natural beauties revealing its unique flora of the nearby hills.
Today’s teaching classrooms were stone-built in 1935. The school is a two-storey building and has got a very big playground. There are many facilities such as a computer lab, a music room, a basketball court, a football field, a foreign language room and a conference room. The school has got one hundred and eleven pupils that enjoy the friendly teachers’ atmosphere…the pupils themselves are involved in many environmental and educational programs that widen their spiritual horizons as Zappas wished.
