Learning through playing and creating is the main idea of our project. Aiming at improving communication and the use of foreign languages through meaningful and joyful activities, teachers and pupils from various European countries will do their best in the kitchen plateaux!
European gastronomic culture will lure pupils from the partner schools into engaging in activities which are meant to scaffold linguistic development in the English and French language. Our little chefs are getting ready! Enjoy! Rendez-vous à la cuisine! |
A few words about our project...

Objectives
Cognitive
● to get to know the culture of the partner country through a very familiar sector

● to realize the role of food, dining and whatever other human activity is connected to them in the people’s lives
● to enrich their foreign language bank with new vocabulary and expressions used in everyday situation dialogues
Affective
● to enjoy the collaboration between the two schools in the playful setting of the kitchen
● to experiment and create cooking
● to be able to transfer happy moments from school to their homes and vice versa

Psychomotor
● to allow children time for action and creativity, to let them play and create with a view to learn to share and collaborate
● to engage pupils in the use of ICT and web tools
● to offer more opportunities for art and craft work at school
Procedure
Each class involved will be divided into groups. It’s up to the pupils and teachers to decide how this will be done, which roles will be assigned (chefs, editors, photographers, reporters) and how often pupils will switch from one role to the other.
Linguistic goals
Pupils will hopefully
practise simple language used to describe kitchen utensils and cooking procedure
use English and French to produce simple dialogues, i.e to describe food, to order in a restaurant, to explain how cooking a food item is done
use English, French and their mother tongue to greet their friends, exchange simple everyday life information, describe their school, life, hobbies
Our goal is to have the following final products:
1. Our partnership recipe e-book
2. A poster, product of collaboration which will be printed by each school and decorate our dining rooms
3. A website full of material from activities and products
October: get to know each other better, present our schools, facilities, organize a skype meeting so that pupils meet their peers
November: "Breakfast at home". Pupils will collect and exchange recipes of typical national breakfast meals, prepare breakfast at school, invite parents or grandparents to join them or cook for them, film their activities and exchange them
December: Cooking for Christmas, exchange information on how Christmas is celebrated in all countries, create and send cards with Christmas wishes and a favourite Christmas recipe
January: Invitation to tea, coffee. Desserts
February: My grandma gets in the kitchen! Find an old traditional recipe and share it. Take photos of the grandmother preparing it. Take an interview about eating habits in the past and write a short article about it
March: Easter- Spring dishes
April-May: Painting for our poster and creating our recipe e-book.!
